Cardowan Moss Local Nature Reserve

Cardowan Moss lies immediately east of Hogganfield Park and can be accessed on foot with entrances at Avenue End Road, Mossvale Road and Darnaway Avenue in Garthamlock. Cardowan Moss lies in the centre of the map immediately north and east of Mossvale Road. It was declared a Local Nature Reserve by Glasgow City Council in 2006.

Its network of footpaths take you through woodland via ponds and on to a raised bog. The woodlands provide a refuge for common birds whilst frogs, toads, damselflies and dragonflies can be found in the ponds. Whilst it is owned by GCC, the LNR is managed by Forestry Commission Scotland who have agreed a 10 year lease with the Council.
